Secrets: A True Story of Addiction, Infidelity and Second Chances
As of 05.08.09 – The Book Release Party is passed, a Nightline interview is being edited for broadcast, and the national release date is getting closer (July 7th). The official Secrets website is finished. Get the book at www.secretsbook.net.
As of 04.06.09 – The book is published! It’s being printed as we speak (well, as we write/blog/connect in cyber space). The official release date will be mid-summer, but we will have pre-release copies in hand by the end of this month.
As of 03.06.09 – We’re almost there! The manuscript is in the final design and layout stage (see the cover to the left). It should be off to the printer in a matter of just a few weeks. The release date is “Spring,” but the specific day isn’t set yet.
As of 12.15.08 - The manuscript is through the first stages of editing. The cover is being designed. My dear friends and colleagues have sent in their endorsements. The next phase is to finish out the editing to ensure that it is ready for print. After that, we finalize the cover design and send it to the final phase for printing. I hope this wraps up for a release somewhere around Feb. ‘09.
As of 08.22.08 – The manuscript has been sent off to my publisher (Tate Publishing) for production. This part of the process will include editing, cover design, and getting all the marketing ready for the eventual title release. It may be several months from this point before I know when the release date will be. I’ll keep you posted!
As of early summer ‘08 – I have completed the rough draft manuscript for The Secret (no, not that one! It’s a working title, anyway), which is a difficult book to categorize. It is woven around my life story but it isn’t really an autobiography. It deals with life issues we all face but isn’t really “Christian living.” It addresses elements of my sexual addiction but it isn’t really about recovery. So, as my wife puts it, “It’s a book for everyone!”
Currently, the manuscript is in the editing process and being lightly shopped around to various publishers. It has drawn the interest of three independent publishers, but I’m not in a terrible hurry as I would prefer to be patient and wait until God says, “Go.”
On Deck
Four Pillars of Purity
The 4 Pillars are a foundational component of our ministry’s teaching about purity. It only makes sense to expound on these principles in book form. Read about the 4 Pillars here.
Target date for manuscript submission to publisher is September 1, 2009.
On the Practice Squad
Just so you know, my brain is somewhat hyperactive. It seems that almost hourly I come up with new ideas for books I “need” to write. But there are some book ideas that are actually in outline phases and even have a few chapters written. The following are a few that are in the works (don’t know when they will be done, though).
No More Regrets – As somewhat of a follow-up book to Secrets, I am writing a short book on practical ways to live every moment of every day with passion and purpose. This book will includes LOTS of stories from real people’s lives, plus a generous number of insights I have learned (and am learning) about living without regret. I want this book to inspire people to get busy with the task of living life, not merely existing. I’m looking forward to writing it!
Am I Really Free – An in depth study of Romans to examine what it really means to be “free in Christ.”
Open Your Eyes – A collaborative effort between me and Stephen Cervantes to help the Christian community see the devastating effects pornography and other sexual sins are having on the church, and what local churches can do to turn the tide.
Prisoner Set Free – This book may never get published. This is my attempt to write a novel telling the story of a soldier’s life as an allegory to sexual addiction and recovery.
Out in Left Field
Simply seeds in the fertile soil of my wild imagination…
Made for Purity – daily devotions for pursuing a life of integrity.
What DID Jesus Do? – Understanding the mind of Christ through various situations He encountered.
Building Bridges – Teaching families how to reconnect in the aftermath of addiction.
