I serve as the director of Be Broken Ministries and I truly love my job (well, most of the time). My role has really changed over the years. I started Be Broken in 2002 on a part time basis and then we went full time in July 2003. At first, I did everything; emails, phone calls, website, speaking, writing, planning, resource development, coaching, support groups, marketing, accounting, and whatever else needed to be done. Now, I am able to focus more on development, outreach (radio, speaking, etc.) and writing, thanks to our incredible staff & volunteers.

I also oversee our board of directors and we hold regular meetings throughout the year. This is a great group of men and women who provide oversight on everything from budgets to workshops. I am so grateful for their insight, wisdom, and leadership. They make my job a lot easier…

I love hosting Pure Sex Radio! This is one of the highlights of my job, getting to talk about sex and educate people around the world on what God has to say on the subject. Pure Sex is in somewhat of a niche market. There just aren’t many radio programs dedicated to the topic of biblical sex. My co-hosts, Stephen Cervantes and Lee Preston, keep the conversations fun and enlightening. And, apparently, there are people out there who want to listen to us.

Our Pure Sex podcast is accessed over 1000 times daily and the program has a listenership in over 80 countries. So, although we are only broadcast on a handful of traditional radio stations throughout the US, the podcast is reaching around the world with a message of hope and healing for those struggling with sexual lust or abuse. This is what excites me about this facet of our ministry. I like being part of such a helpful tool.

Easily, the most fun I have in my job is at the Gateway to Freedom workshops. This may seem strange considering these are 3-day intensive workshops for men whose lives are usually in severe crisis due to their extensive histories of sexual acting out. However, it is what God does at these workshops that is most exciting. It's like being on the frontlines of spiritual battle, engaging the darkness and depression and despair that has overtaken these men through years of believing lies about their sexuality and God. And then, almost as if a curtain is being lifted, the light breaks through and eyes begin to open and hearts begin to melt. The presence of God overwhelms the brokenness in these men and hope is born. It’s a beautiful thing to behold! I LOVE IT!

My job at the workshops is to facilitate all the teaching sessions and lead the counseling staff. I love meeting new men at these events and seeing how God brings them to a place of hope and healing.
